U.S. Senator Mike Rounds of South Dakota has announced his roles on several subcommittees within the Senate Committee on Appropriations for the 119th Congress. The announcement details his participation in six specific subcommittees, each responsible for overseeing funding across various sectors.
The Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and Related Agencies will manage funds for the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the FDA. Another key area is the Subcommittee on Energy and Water Development, which focuses on financing for the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Rounds will also serve on the Subcommittee on Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies to oversee funding for entities such as the U.S. Department of Interior and the U.S. Forest Service. His involvement extends to education, labor, and health through his role in the Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services (HHS), Education, and Related Agencies.
Further responsibilities include serving on the Subcommittee on the Legislative Branch to oversee funding allocations for bodies like the United States Senate and Library of Congress. Lastly, Rounds will be part of the Subcommittee on Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies focusing particularly on military construction projects.
"I am pleased to be serving on six key Appropriations subcommittees on behalf of the people of South Dakota," stated Rounds. He highlighted that these roles would help secure funding crucial for projects in South Dakota including those at Ellsworth Air Force Base under military construction jurisdiction.
Rounds’ appointments were initially made public in December 2024.
