Pierre Regional Airport is closed; Water Leak, Action Needed

AIRPORT

The Pierre Regional Airport is closed for the remainder of the day because airline visibility minimums cannot be met. The City will continue to monitor the situation.

WATER MAIN

A water main leak has been identified on West Third Street. Water service remains, however those in the impacted area are advised to store enough water to last 24 hours.

If the leaking pipe deteriorates further before repairs can be made, water service will be lost until the pipe can be fixed. Approximately 50 households in the LaBarge Court, Harney Court, and West Fifth Street could be impacted. Those identified on the attached map and the immediate adjacent area should store water by filling bathtubs, jugs, and buckets until a permanent repair can be made.

Weather conditions are making repairs very challenging; the City is working to remedy the issue as quickly as possible.

UPDATE: 12.22.22, 10 A.M.

The Pierre Regional Airport will open at 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 22.

BLIZZARD CLOSES AIRPORT, DELAYS TRASH COLLECTION: 7A.M., 12.22.22

Thursday’s city trash collection has been delayed until Monday; the City baling facility will now be open on Monday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The City’s Street Department is salting streets, working to keep streets passable, and moving excess snow as conditions allow.
