Rawlins Library is scaring up mysteries, supernatural activity, and Halloween fun this October.
TEEN PHOTO CHALLENGE
OCT. 1 – 31
During the month of October, Compose a picture featuring Black and White, Lighting and Special Effects, and Nature in Your Neighborhood images. Then, for a chance to win the competition, submit one image per category to Rawlins Library via a PM on Facebook or rawlinslibrary@ci.pierre.sd.us. The contest is open to 6th – 12th graders who live in either Hughes or Stanley County.

An education kit featuring the Dakota, Nakota, and Lakota cultures will be on display in recognition of Native American Day. The kit is on loan from the South Dakota State Historical Society.

The Club will read Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. Water and popcorn are provided to participants. To reserve a book or join the club, email rawlinslibrary@ci.pierre.sd.us, call, or sign up in person.

Tour a fire truck, learn about fire safety, and hear what it’s like to fight fires from one of Pierre’s volunteer firefighters. All ages are welcome!

Early readers have a chance to read to Pumpkin Pye. The canine listener is provided by Therapy Dogs International and handler Elaine Pye.

Grab a friend or family member for Lego-building fun at Rawlins Library. The program is open to people between the ages of 0 and 100.
DEMENTIA CAREGIVER WORKSHOP

Learn the basics of providing care to someone who has dementia and learn about resources available to caregivers. The event is presented by Monarch Dementia Caregiver Services. The program is free and open to the public.
