RAWLINS LIBRARY: SEPTEMBER PROGRAMMING
1,000 BOOKS BEFORE KINDERGARTEN
Starting in September, the Rawlins staff is challenging parents to read 1,000 books to their kids before the kids start kindergarten. Rawlins is offering a reading log, as well as additional information about the program. Prizes will be awarded once 100, 500, and 1,000 books have been read.
TAKE AND MAKE CRAFT KIT
Sept. 1 – 30
Rawlins Library is now offering take and make craft kits. The September craft is bookmark making; a video tutorial will be provided. The craft kits are free to those 18 years of age and up while supplies last.
LIBRARY CARD SIGN-UP AND RENEWAL
Sept. 1 – 30
Throughout the month of September, those who sign up for a new library card or renew an expired card will receive a gift bag. Supplies are limited.
ADULT BOOK CLUB (TUESDAY NIGHTS)
Sept. 6, 13, 20 & 27, 6 p.m. -7 p.m.
The Club will read The 100 Year Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared. Participants should bring a snack to share. Water and coffee are provided. To reserve a book or join the club, email abby.edwardson@ci.pierre.sd.us
YOUNG ADULT BOOK CLUB (WEDNESDAY AFTERNOONS)

LIBRARY CARNIVAL

Come to Rawlins Library for face painting, a cake walk, games and more. The event is free and open to the public.
AUTHOR TALK – SURVIVING THE ’72 FLOOD

Author Seth Tupper and photographer Johnny Sundby share how they preserved the memories of those who survived the 1972 Rapid City flood for their book Surviving the ’72 Flood.
ADULT EDUCATION & FAMILY LITERACY WEEK

During Adult Education and Family Literacy Week cash in on continuing education books and free online adult education classes offered through Rawlins Library. Books and class topics range from Debt Management, to Painless Algebra, to English for Everyone. The online classes and books are available to library card holders.
COLD CASE GAME NIGHT

Meet friends, strangers, and more at Rawlins Library Cold Case Game Night. Come and unlock your detective side. You must be at least 18 to play, and pre-registration at Rawlins Library is required.
AUTHOR TALK –PLAINSMEN OF THE LEGENDARY WEST

Learn more about Wild Bill Hickok and Buffalo Bill Cody from local author Bill Markley. Markley will lead you through an exploration of his book featuring the lives of these two well-known Wild West legends.
HALLOWEEN COSTUME SWAP
Monday, Oct. 3, 5:15 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Swap out your clean gently used kids’ Halloween costumes for other clean gently used kids’ costumes at Rawlins Library. The library will collect the gently used costumes for kids birth through age 12 prior to Oct. 3. Those who donate will be given a ticket to come back for a different costume on Oct. 3. Please label costume with size. Any unclaimed costumes will be donated to Hospice Thrift Store.
