Rawlins Library: July Programming

Rawlins Library is bringing the arts to you this July. Among its other programming, Rawlins will bring a live concert, an art workshop designed for the family, plus a special presentation by local artists.

SUPER SENIOR COFFEE CONNECTIONS FRIDAYS

JULY 1 – JUNE 29, 9 A.M. – 10 A.M.

Friday mornings are a great time to catch up with old friends or make new ones over a cup of coffee. Rawlins Library is helping people do just that with its Super Seniors Coffee Connections. The program continues July 1 in the South Dakota Room. Coffee is provided. No registration is necessary.

RESCUE READERS

JULY 5, JULY 19, 5:30 - 6:30  

Young readers can practice reading aloud to kittens that love company. Through a partnership with PAWS animal rescue, Rawlins host young readers (first grade and up) at the animal rescue shelter. Seats are limited; register at rawlinslibrary.org

SOUTH DAKOTA TRIVIA THURSDAYS

JULY 7 – JULY 28, 11:30 A.M. – 12:30 P.M.

Rawlins Library will host South Dakota Trivia for those 18 and older on Thursdays. Bring a brown bag lunch and get to know your state a little better!

STORYTIME AT THE PARK

JULY 13-14 & 27-28, 10:15 A.M. & 10:45 A.M.

Weather permitting, enjoy storytime in the great outdoors. This summer, Rawlins staff is holding special storytimes at area parks.

  • July 27, July 28: LaBarge Park, Pierre 
FAMILY ART WORKSHOP

THURSDAY, JULY 7, 5:30 P.M. - 7:30 P.M.

Grab the kids for a hands-on family art workshop. Join New York artist Michael Albert for collage making with cereal boxes. Seats are limited; register at rawlinslibrary.org

WHAT INSPIRES AN ARTIST?

FRIDAY, JULY 8, 1 P.M.

Find out what inspires local artists Janet Judson, Jim Pollock, Roberta Williams, Wanda Coffey and Connie Palmer. Each will share some of their work and talk about how they got interested in the craft.

JOEY LEONE AND THE CHOP SHOP BAND

JULY 14, 7P.M.

Joey Leone and the Chop Shop Band are back to offer another free outdoor concert on the lawn of Rawlins Library. Bring your own camping chairs to enjoy live jazz and blues straight from a New York artist.

FRIENDSHIP DAY

MONDAY, JULY 18, 6:30 P.M. – 7:30 P.M.

Join the Friends of the Library group. It supports the library through volunteer work and fundraising.
