Senator Mike Rounds, a U.S. Senator from South Dakota, posted several updates on his Twitter account in December 2025 regarding technology policy and defense legislation.

On December 16, 2025, Rounds expressed support for the former president’s administration and its efforts to advance artificial intelligence expertise within government agencies. He stated, “We applaud President Trump’s leadership and the hard work of his administration in the creation of the Tech Force program. Artificial Intelligence is not going away. For the U.S. to win the AI race with China, we need experts in government who have a deep understanding of this”.

Two days later, on December 18, 2025, Rounds shared another message reinforcing his approval by writing simply “Spot on!”.

Later that same day, he commented on recent legislative progress related to national defense: “Yesterday, the Senate passed the 2026 National Defense Authorization Act. The NDAA is a great example of what we can accomplish when we work together. I’m grateful to have worked on this legislation from beginning to end for the 11th year in a row. This year’s NDAA authorizes”.

The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) is an annual piece of federal legislation that outlines budgetary and policy priorities for the Department of Defense and other national security programs. Passage of the NDAA is considered essential for funding military operations and setting defense policy each fiscal year.
